Part two of the birthday celebrations saw My Starr and I at the Shangri-La Hotel at the Shard courtesy of the wonderful SE1 Events.

I cannot put in to words how uplifting and inspiring it is to wake up to such a wonderful view. It really was quite magical and I remember that morning, I felt as though I could take on anything the world had to throw at me. It is my dream to wake up to an inspiring view such as this every day – one that motivates and induces positivity tenfold.

The decor is uber slick and modern yet comfortable enough so that you feel you can relax and not feel as though you are an extra in an interior design exhibition. The highlight for me was probably the claw bath tub situated by the floor to ceiling window allowing you to bathe overlooking London. Such a sensual idea and very romantic. I loved it. They also had an iPod 5s charging dock station – An absolute God send! A lot of hotels I’ve stayed in this year have had the old iPhone docks – uber frustrating and a no no for me in luxury hotels. We had dinner at the Hotel’s Ting restaurant and I wore a white dress from ASOS with my trusty Lady Max heels. For makeup I channeled old Hollywood glamour with red lips and minimal eye make up, pinning my hair at the nape of my neck.

Aside from picturesque views across London, The Shangri-La also benefits from being nicely situated near to Borough market and next door to Hutong’s (one of the favourite restaurants in London). Borough market is a foodist’s dream and well worth the visit for locals and tourists alike. Have you tried out the Shangri-La hotel yet? Did you enjoy it as much as I did? I’d love to hear your thoughts as always. Next on my list; Shangri-La Paris… 😛 xoxo
