Balmain is probably one of my favourite designers when it comes to sheer opulence and decadence. The Pre fall 2013 collection is no exception. Shoulder pads, gold jaquard, lavishly detailed silk prints are all signature Balmain. Designer Olivier Rousteing is said to have been inspired to create the Pre-Fall 2013 collection after watching the recent Diana Vreeland documentary The Eye Has To Travel, where Vreeland’s famously lavish red living room was revealed, appearing to Rousteing like a mosaic of Japanese extravagance, which is reflected in many of the pieces throughout the collection.
