Yesterday I attended House of Fraser’s store event in conjunction with Vogue Fashion Night Out. The last time I attended FNO I had an amazing time! We partied at Armani’s invite only event in collaboration with MTV where Labrinth performed and then headed over to Louis Vuitton’s flagship store to view the exclusive collections and play dress up in their photo booth. The streets were filled with people, roads blocked off, live street music… you could’ve easily mistaken bond street for carnival. All in all, it was truly a fun experience celebrating fashion and allowing members of the public a rare insight into the history and craftmanship of the brands – purchase was not allowed.
This year, was not as enjoyable. This year was nothing more than an overt marketing ploy to get as many bodies through the door as physically possible and entice them to spend by dangling a 15% discount in front of their noses. Celebrity and Blogger (this is new to me) DJ’s, helped to pull in the extra punters by posing for pictures and of course encouraging fans to come down via social media. I genuinely felt used and misled. Luckily, the wonderful team at House of Fraser invited me down to their event which didn’t disappoint. The Mahiki pop up bar was awesome and I spent most of my time holed up in the Moschino section giggling, taking selfies and making a payday wish list as long as my thigh highs!
How many of you were disappointed with Vogue Fashion Night Out this year? Which shops did you visit?
